Back in the mists of 2020 the first ever UK Comics Creator Survey took place: 623 respondents, 5 online roundtables, 24 panelists, 500-odd participants, and 2 very neat reports.

The survey ran from April to May 2020, at the height of Covid-19. In total, 623 comics creators took time away from experiencing a worldwide pandemic to respond to it.
ROUNDTABLE EVENTS
“If you wanted to change the comics industry, where would you even begin?”
After the report was published there was a lot to discuss. Fortunately, it being the pandemic, online meetings were now very much ‘a thing’. 5 online roundtables were held; one to look at the survey itself and one on each of the areas of concern raised by the report, specifically: the lacks of Money, Access, Audience and Professionalism.
Each meeting had between 80-120 participants and the discussions, carefully summarised by Katriona Chapman, provide a lively, insightful snapshot of the UK comics community in 2020.
